Hope everyone survived the storms and icy cold suffered by the hands of the Polar Vortex? Winter is not over yet folks! During last week's deep freeze, I found out my home was it's own Polar Vortex. I awoke one morning with all of my downstairs windows frozen on the INSIDE with ice. It felt and looked like I was in a freezer! My heat was lost in the"vortex" as it couldn't keep my old home warm enough. ( Here in the South, the windows of older homes were definitely not made for these extreme weather conditions). We packed the windows and under doors with towels and draft dodgers, but the wind howled on through despite our efforts. On the upside, it finally felt like Christmas to this former Yankee girl...SMILE.
January has always been my month to snuggle up with a few good books. Under TWO blankets I curled up and finished The Shack; loved it. Even the dogs took their chances with me and fought their way under those blankets to cuddle with me. Though it was crowded, I knew it was the warmth they craved and not little ol' me, it made a cute Kodak moment. I'm watching more movies than I should, carbs and hot tea are a toasty comfort to me. While everyone else is trying to keep their New Year's resolutions; losing weight and working out, I kept the 12 pounds I lost BEFORE Christmas off and my remaining "cushion" is keeping me warm until we are past the deep freeze. Bring on the books, the movies and the mac and cheese and keep warm my friends!
